Firsts and Lasts

The month of June is full of firsts and lasts for our family!

All of the "firsts" have been experiences for Kayleigh, and the "lasts" have been for our whole family because...wait for it...

We are MOVING! This little Olsen family is heading up to Rocklin at the end of July! I got a job teaching in Auburn and Joey is going to stay home with his sweet little girl and work on school!

Although we will definitely miss our friends and family down in Southern California, this is something that we have been wanting for a few years and are very excited to finally make it happen!

Onto the pictures...

First...
End of the year BBQ with Mom's coworkers and kids.

Last...
Time being spoiled by Mom's sweet students.

 First...
Movie night in bed with Mom and Dad.

Last...
Adapted PE teacher meeting for me! My coworkers are wonderful and gave me flowers, a card, and a gift!

First...
Time meeting new friend Brooklyn. These two are only a month apart, but Brooklyn is on the small side, and Kayleigh is not :)

Last...
Official Day with Ginny at daycare. Don't we will be back to play this summer before we move!

The rest are a whole lot of "firsts," I ran out of "Lasts" for now!

Kayleigh's first time out of California! We flew up to Portland to celebrate my cousin's wedding.

We had beautiful weather for the weekend!

First time at Multnomah Falls.

First time meeting cousin Hannah and taking a picture with all the cousins lined up in birth order.

First time attending a wedding (sorry for the blurry pictures).

She spent most of the ceremony chewing on her feet- which she has decided is currently her favorite toy. Works for us...we never forget them anywhere!

First Father's Day!

Celebrating Father's Day with Papa too!

And these two pictures are just cute :)

Kayleigh loves this little teething net- she will suck and chew on ice all day long if we let her!

Joey has his LAST day of work on Wednesday and we cant wait! We will continue enjoying Pasadena and Southern California until we take off at the end of July.

Food!!!

Kayleigh had her very first taste of Rice Cereal on June 1st after her 5 month check up. She loved having something other than milk for the first time.

Here is her first taste!

Sweet girl was very happy.

But wasn't so happy a few nights later when we attempted squash for the first time...

She did okay with squash when we mixed a little bit in with her oatmeal cereal though

Kayleigh had the same exact reaction to her first try of sweet potatoes, but we aren't giving up! She does eat them as long as they are mixed in with her rice or oatmeal cereal.

I am having fun making Kayleigh's food for her! Assuming it will be even more fun when she actually enjoys eating it :).
I have gotten a lot of use out of my wonderful Mother's Day present (food processor that I have been wanting) from my sweet husband and baby girl.

I made her some homemade applesauce (which Joey and I loved!), and she once again wasn't the biggest fan.

Kayleigh also LOVES using these little teething nets with ice in them! She will chew and suck until its gone and then happily accept another one. I think teeth are in our near future!

Big girl!

Kayleigh is sitting up very well now and playing with her toys on her own! She is at the point where I can put her on the ground with her toys and put some pillows around her just in case (we have hardwood floors), and make dinner while she plays on her own! She is so proud of herself too!!

And... She has been enjoying (mostly) food for over a week now! Can't believe my baby girl is growing so fast. Food post coming soon!

Myles Birthday and Mother's Day!

I am playing a little catch up with the blog. Things have gotten busy around here!

Myles turned 4 (Oh my gosh!!!) a few weekends ago and we had a great time celebrating with the family.

This little boy loves UPS and requested a UPS cake from us this year...so here it is!

The cousins hanging out at the party.

Sweet boy with his birthday cake and friends

He was a VERY happy boy with his new bike! And very proud to practice his riding skills at the park.

On Saturday night we left Kayleigh with my parents for the evening and headed down to celebrate Matt and Mandy Croft's wedding. It was a beautiful wedding and we had a great time.

On Sunday, I got to celebrate my first official Mother's Day!

We started off the day with a walk to Peet's and Einsteins for breakfast and bagels.

And then we headed back to the park with the whole family for a picnic and relaxing for a few hours.

Here are Grandma and Grandpa Baker (Nammy and Papa) with their Grandkids.

These two have a special connection and always will!

Papa and his sweet little girl

And, my sister took a few pictures of us with Kayleigh. I absolutely LOVE them!!!!

And, we rounded out the weekend with a lovely case of "Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease."
Poor Kayleigh got it pretty bad all over her little body, but thankfully not in her mouth. She was even nice enough to share it with her Dad!

Overall, it was a wonderful weekend!

5 months!!!!

Kayleigh turned 5 months old today!

We are loving watching this little girl grow and continue to be completely amazed by her.

Kayleigh's official 5 month stats:
Weight: 16 lbs 9 oz (90th percentile)
Height: 27 1/4 inches (95th percentile)

At 5 months Kayleigh...
-Sleeps in her crib on most nights, but still prefers cuddling with Mom or Dad!
-Has had "Hand Foot and Mouth Disease" and shared it with her Daddy :)
-Is sitting up on her own!!! Has had a few face-plants and still sometimes falls to one side or the other, but can often lift herself back up to a sitting position without any help!
-Is rolling around! This little girl loves to move! When we set her down in her little gym on the ground, and walk away for a minute, she either rolls over, or scoots her little body to the other side of the gym. And she is so proud of herself for doing it!
-Loves eating her toes and holding her feet up to her mouth.
-Puts anything she possibly can into her mouth.
-Reaches for people or things that she wants.
-Has been on 4 flights.
-Loves her Jumperoo.
-Has the sweetest laugh I have every heard, and has a hilarious laugh when she is incredibly tired.
-Makes eye contact and then gives the best smiles!
-Loves to read. Current favorite books: "Brown Bear Brown Bear" and "Going to Grandma's house."
-Loves bath time.
-Smacks her lips while watching anyone else eat (starting foods soon!).
-Recognizes her name and looks towards whoever is calling for her.
-Continues to grow and change daily.

We LOVE our little Kayleigh more than ever and I know that our love for her will only continue to grow as she does.
